I'm beginning to think the botching of the original firmware somehow got these out of sync. After reading a bunch of different Blu-ray repair threads, I spotted traits that were similar to mine and they said if the PS3 firmware and Blu-ray drive firmware get out of sync, the drive can become locked and non-functional. Next time I booted up, it said it didn't work properly and did I want to do it again?Īnyways, my Blu-ray drive doesn't work.

I had it set to shutdown automatically when done. When my PS3 upgraded firmware from 2.5 to 2.52, it somehow screwed it up. So that was a couple hours wasted over nothing! I was only able to format the hard drive with firmware 2.52 or higher. Found a way to do it and didn't do squat.
